EMAIL: Week 51 - 4th Week in Perth Amboy

WRITTEN: 7/17/17

Week 4 in Perth Amboy went by super fast.

Tuesday we had district meeting and we talked about ideas for finding on Facebook, it went really well. We came up with a few different ways we could start conversations with people online. So far Elder Sillanpaa and I are teaching three people from Facebook right now and it's super cool! After district meeting we went to lunch as a zone to a place called Stewart's, it's pretty famous for their root beer floats and food.  I got a sandwich called the "Fat Stewie", it was pretty interesting cause it was a Philly cheese steak sandwich with mozzarella sticks, fries, chicken tenders, and tomato sauce all on the inside. It was nuts! But it was really good too! After lunch we went on exchanges with the zone leaders. When we go on exchanges with zone leaders Elder Sillanpaa and I both go to the zone leaders area. I went with Elder Sanhueza and he's from Chile. He's a super awesome missionary, such a great example. We went to a members house for dinner and we just got wrecked. After eating a fat Stewie I had to force down two huge bowls of soup and a whole plate of little tacos. Man... I felt super super full haha! But it was worth it cause the food was Amazing.

Wednesday we finished up the exchange by going to a service where we pack food for homeless and the hungry. We went back to our area and later in the day we did a table stand offering information about our English class and a free Bible with the english elders. We got to our spot we decided to do it at and we were there maybe like 20min before some other guys showed up and they dressed up in robes and they had Bibles. It turns out that they were there to protest and fight against the book of Mormon. We were probably there for like 2 and a half hours before we had to go but it was kinda funny to see all the things they had to say about how the book of Mormon is wrong and false and all these other things, another thing is that they were video taping the entire time! Some members saw us and brought us some popsicle, it was awesome! Later that night we had an appointment at the chapel with one of our investigators who we met through Facebook and he's super cool! His name is Pablo and he's from Peru, he's a really big guy too (just a little smaller than me!). He's had alot of things happen in his life and he really wants to forgive and move on. We are pretty excited to be teaching him, plus he came from Facebook so that's even cooler!

Thursday morning we went to a service called heavens helpers and we basically just fill 500 bags of food for the homeless. This one is a little different than our other services that we do. This one only happens once a month. We're there for like 5 hours filling bags and then we open the doors and just a flood of people rush in. I just want to say that I feel so blessed and I really don't know how to put it but I know God loves me and my family and he is constantly pouring out his blessings for us. Later we had an appointment with another guy we met through Facebook and his name is Jean. Cool guy and really just has some questions about is role and purpose here on earth. We have another appointment set up so we'll see what happens:)

Friday morning I had an exchange with Elder Decker. He's companions with Elder Forsyth in my district. The exchange went really well, we were fed three times and we were outside in the pouring rain all day haha. It kinda was a bummer deal but it was still fun. We literally stopped by all of our investigators houses and all the members and only one family was home.

Saturday we exchanged back in the morning and then Elder Sillanpaa and I went to the chapel to help our ward with a flea market that they were putting on for a little fundraiser kinda thing. They made papusas too and they we're amazing! We had a meeting with our ward mission leader to coordinate some things. Then we did some weekly planning which took a few hours. Then we had some appointments with some members and I got attacked by mosquitos! Seriously though I think I grew another elbow, at least 3 more fingers, and a couple silicon face injections haha. All the Hispanics have so many different home remedies for bug bites it's sooo funny!

Sunday was great as always. Had a meeting after church and then we were stacked with member appointments for the rest of the day. I was sooo full when we got home last night haha.

Well that's what my week looked like. Not a whole lot, but I'm just working away. The weeks are going by so fast! I can't believe that we are already in the middle of July that's nuts!

Well I hope you all have a great week!

Love,
Elder Marz
