EMAIL: WEEK 43 - LOCO Squirrel and Fun the the Park

Written: 5/22/17

Hey everyone!
Wow this week has kinda flown by! Lots of stuff happens this week!

Tuesday we met the new sisters and then we stoped by some people, did some contacting and had our English class. Only 3 came and two of those were members:/ Tuesday's are usually the day where less people come for some reason?

Wednesday I had my first district meeting and it went super well! I've got a "sistrict" which a district of just sisters, no elders besides Elder Brooks and I haha. I gave a training on what the spirit is and how essential it is to have the spirit with you as a constant companion. As well I taught about how the spirit moves us to do things, specifically- repent. We did a role play teaching an investigator the steps of repentance because our investigators as a whole need to undergo full repentance in order to feel the spirit. After at lunch Elder Brooks and I made some peanut butter no-bake cookies for Omar's wife. We really just want to talk with her because we think that she is holding him back from baptism and coming to church. We were hoping that the cookies would automatically get us through the door so we could talk to here, but she wasn't home:/ All I have to say is that those cookies were good! Haha

Thursday we did lots of planning for Omar and for this new transfer. After we went to the park with the Dover sisters and did a little activity with the people there. We brought popsicles too! We had a board with 5 questions like: "what's your favorite thing about yourself?" And people had to pick to of them and we put their answers on another board. It was actually really fun to see what people said. Really our goal with this was to just be out with the people so they can see what we do and that we are just nice young kids, also they need to know that we are not trying to find the illegals (immigration police)😂. We had a kid tell us that when him and his friend saw us in the park the other day they ran away from the park because they thought that we were going to send them back to Honduras. Kinda sad that we've come to this. Hopefully activities in the park like this one will help.

Friday I was pretty much in Morristown for a leader meeting for the whole day. Lots of trainings on how to be a good leader and a good example for those around us and as well our district. After the meeting elder Brooks and I were cursed with a juking curse that lasted (well we hope!) till Sunday night. Out of 14 lessons from Friday night until Sunday night we really only had 2 of those lessons. Sooo we're not really sure what was going on with the people. All I know is hard work brings forth fruit! Things don't always have to fall in place we just have to be sure we are doing what we are supposed to and God will guide us!

I'm going to skip Saturday.

Sunday I gave a talk about our life here on earth and the purpose of our life. It went well. We were supposed to get a new bishop and elders quorum Pres and a new ward mission leader but it didn't happen so maybe next week. Oh yeah and Omar didn't come to church:/ We are kinda worried for him. So because he didn't come to church it looks like we have to move his baptismal date up even further. It's frustrating because we had members ready to sit next to him at church and take him to all the classes and such, but we will get him to church and he'll stay the three hours!

I want to let you know of something I've been doing since the beginning on May and it's called the Consecration Challenge. It's where you "fast" to say for 40 days from anything that pokes and pulls at your spirit wether that's listening to music that doesn't invite the Spirit or spending useless time scrolling through the social medias, anything! We all have our weaknesses! It's really really been nice to have the spirit even closer to me as I've done this. It's really such an amazing opportunity and I encourage you all to think about doing something like this! Fast for a day in humble prayer and gratitude. Second create a list of things that poke and pull at your spirit. Third pray and covenant with God that you will do your best to avoid these things and he will give you strength! Forth come to him in prayer in the morning and at night, pray for strength and report to God on how you did. Ask for help, he will help you! I've seen him help me throughout this challenge becoming more loving, more patient, I judge less. It's amazing what God will do to help you become what he wants you to become, you just have to let him mold you!

Well there's what my week kinda looked like. I'm doing so good. Still lovin Dover. Except for the fact the the weather is bi-polar. Seriously it was in the 90s earlier in the week and then the weekend it was rainy and cold like in the 60s, it's so weird here😂

Have an amazing week!

Love,
Elder Marz
